Florida Tarpon Charters is home of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 "Yamaha Team of the Year" Champions in the Professional Tarpon Tournament Series in Boca Grande, Florida
We offer several different techniques that you may use when fishing for a largemouth bass. The winter months of December though early April is your best chance of catching a trophy size bass slow trolling wild shiners through out the lakes many drop offs, bars and hydrilla beds. When dragging shiners throughout the lake, we will be using 8 to 12 inch long shiners so for the most part you are going to catch the bigger fish. Although every once and a while a little fish will grab hold of a shiner that is the same size he is. Lake tarpon is loaded with 3 to 10 pound bass and has its fair amount of fish over 11 pounds.
Like shiners, shad is a natural baitfish in every lake throughout the world. We have figured out a way to keep these shad alive. Using a cast net we will catch thousands of these shad and take them throughout the lake to use them just like you where if you had ever been Snook fishing. There are bass constantly busting baits all around the boat from us throwing hand fulls of shad. The more accurately you can cast the more fish you catch. You can expect to catch 50-150 Bass in the 1-4 pound range in a day fishing with shad. It is the best kind of fishing for kids!!!!
Artificial baits work good in the mornings and evenings throughout the lake. Lake Tarpon has quite a few schoolies in it and make top water fishing a blast. We also do good on worm fishing, spinner baits, jerk baits and flipping. Most people will bring there personal rods while dragging shiners throwing a worm or spinner bait while waiting on Mr. big to grab hold of a Slab-of-shiner.
